The song "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen" by Baz Luhrmann is a really cool song that has a lot of advice that is worth following.
"Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly." This quote from the song, "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen" by Baz Luhrmann, may have been in the song to add humor, I'm just guessing because people laughed a little bit, but I think it has a really good meaning to it. This piece of advice is also worth following. This is so true because when someone sees people that are in beauty magazines, they think that the people in the magazines are perfect; however, everyone has their flaws. The people in the magazines have things graphically added to their faces to make them look flawless. This video shows exactly what companies do to make models "more beautiful." Of course, this doesn't just take place with beauty magazines, it's also true with regular selfies that you might find on facebook. Even though many people have told me this same thing many times in different ways, I never decided to believe them and kept saying to myself that I am ugly; however, the way this is worded in the song makes me rethink my opinion on myself.
"Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded." This quote from the song makes me wonder a little bit. This is because I spend my life thinking 'why can't I be an adult already?' and 'I can't wait until I'm older.' However, many adults want to go back into their youth and do things differently or just enjoy it more. When we spend our youth thinking about growing up and the future, we are wasting memories. I have to admit that I don't understand the "power and beauty" of youth, but many adults do and I guess that's what Baz Luhrmann means. In short, he is telling the youth to enjoy ourselves and not think about the future until the future is here. This quote really speaks and has a wonderful meaning behind it which is worth following.
Baz Luhrmann's song "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen" has a lot of advice that is worth following, however, I think these are just two pieces that really stick out to me.
One piece of advice that I would add to this is:
Don't spend your life thinking about what you don't have. Think about what you do have.
Just another interesting video (You watched it if you are in my class):
