1) What does it mean to be...
a democrat-
"is a person who believes in the political or social equality of all people." They believe it is the government's responsibility to help solve the public's financial problems. A democrat thinks that a person that is higher class should pay more taxes than a middle or low class person.
a republican-
"wants a more restrictive government." They believe that the government shouldn't help to solve all the problems and that you should solve them yourself. Republicans want to cut taxes because they think the money should be yours, not the governments.
a liberal-
kind of favors minorities and the poor. Also, their opinion is that the government has to offer equality in society. (A democrat is a liberal)
a conservative-
believes that there should be less spending, a smaller government, and they value Christianity the most (not only Christianity, but that is the most) (A republican in a conservative)
2) How exactly do people acquire the beliefs that put them into one camp or the other? And where do your influences come from?
The people have opinions on a lot of topics and their opinions categorize them into one camp or another. These opinions are usually influenced by other people. These influences come from the speeches that candidates make, friend's opinions, and family opinions.3) Is there a political party with which you feel you are aligned?
I think that I am aligned with the democratic party. (The next question gives some reasons why)
4) Identify 2-3 specific issues that are important to you. (social, economic, foreign, environmental, etc.) What stance do you and your political party have on each issue? (Democrats)
Discrimination-
Both the party and I think that the government has to provide support to victims of discrimination.
Prayer in School-
The party says that we should separate church and school. I say that because not all students practice the same religion so it would not be fair to students of different religion.
Gun Control Laws-
Both the party and I think that they are needed to stop problems arising with guns. There should not be people using guns when they are not needed. They are usually needed for self defense, but without abusing the use of guns, there may not be much use for the self defense with guns.
